A few hours ago, Wordpress 2.6 was released as an official download on the wordpress website.

Yahoo’s A Fickle Girlfriend: Microsoft’s Dumped, Google’s Loved!

Jun 13th, 2008 | By Rachit Dayal | Category: Google AdWords, MSN AdCenter, News & Updates, Online Marketing Editorials, Pay Per Click Advertising, Technology & Companies, Yahoo Overture

A few hours ago, Yahoo gave up on its talks with Microsoft and decided that a search deal with them wasn’t going to be worth it. Pretty expected reaction considering Microsoft had dumped Yahoo and refused to buy the business as a whole after Yahoo had acted all cheerleader like in the last negotiation.
So, guess [...]

Visiting Startup @ Singapore 2008

May 26th, 2008 | By Rachit Dayal | Category: Entrepreneurship, Online Marketing Editorials, Personal Stories, Technology & Companies, Website Branding

Saturday was a very interesting day - I was judging business plans at Startup @ Singapore 2008. S@S is a business plan competition that allows young entrepreneurs to put their bright ideas into a plan, and if its good - earn about $30,000 in prize money to get it started.

In this article, you’ll find overviews of all the business plans I judged, and my own tips for what makes a competition-winning business plan (Hint - the criteria is quite different from a successful business).

In my last post, more than six months ago … I had outlined a plan for Yahoo to slowly recover from its missteps.

In [...]

Honey, it’s not working out … My humble experiences with Ubuntu Linux

Sep 17th, 2007 | By Rachit Dayal | Category: News & Updates, Personal Stories, Technology & Companies

I’m a little heart-broken.
For the past 4 years I’ve been having an on-and-off affair.
There are moments when I’m attracted to her. (It’s usually when things are going bad with my regular love … then we experiment for a while and give “us” a shot).
Initially, she manages to dazzle me. Every time, she comes across with [...]

iPhone In Singapore?

Aug 28th, 2007 | By Rachit Dayal | Category: Personal Stories, Technology & Companies

A few minutes ago, I was in one of my moods … you know, the ones in which you have a strange craving for the iPhone.

I knew it wasn’t coming to Singapore any time soon, but I figured I could spend some time on the Apple.com.sg site and get my fix on some other apple [...]

Feedburner is the most popular way for blogs to publish their blogs and track its usage … and you can rest [...]

Apple’s always been a role model for innovative marketing - their interfaces are always clean and usable. Their products are always cutting edge and stable. And they follow the marketing concepts of branding and anticipation so well … that books have been written about them.
One of the things they do frequently is introduce new product [...]

Microsoft Firefox??

Nov 11th, 2006 | By Rachit Dayal | Category: Technology & Companies

Just stumbled upon the most hilarious website! Some smart techie decided to guess what it would be like … if Microsoft bought over Mozilla’s Firefox browser.
This is the original firefox home page …

It’s hilarious … they’ve taken a wonderfully spartan home page of mozilla … and corporatized it with Microsoft’s official colours & look.
So check [...]

It seems like a great e-commerce system … easy interface … fantastic [...]
