You're right, I forgot about the MyBlogLog purchase. At the same time, I never quite understood why MyBlogLog was such a rave.

As far as I could see, their main offering was a widget that indicated who had visited your blog. FeedBurner's analytics are much more sophisticated.

Complicated is not necessarily good, but its more attractive to potential advertisers who want to use these analytics to understand a blog's visitors.

Plus, a large portion of the world's significant blogs use FeedBurner to syndicate their content.

And like all its other properties, Yahoo hasn't integrated MyBlogLog into the Yahoo family ... that's good for older MyBlogLog users, but it does nothing for Yahoo's fortunes.

I thought MyBlogLog was an interesting step in building a social network out of bloggers ... but it didn't go far enough. And if Yahoo needs to really utilize/monetize that acquisition ... that path to profitability is not so clear to me.

You left out the fact that Yahoo! acquired MyBlogLog which could be the most significant piece of the puddle in the blogging/content syndication game.

Feedburner is a piece of technology in the RSS game, but by no means a critical piece IMHO.
